I don’t know much about Projectors, and was wondering if they are good for watching Sports in Standard Def and playing PS3. Also, what’s the smallest size you can display on the wall and how far away can the projector be from the wall (minimum)?
If you can recommend some good brands, it would be appreciated also, thanks.
Well, I have a projector and I play my PS3, and just watch standard definition with it and it looks excellent. Are you wanting to project the PS3 with High-Definition? If so, you would have to pay a little more for a High-Def projector, than your average on the market. The smallest size of the screen will depend on the projector’s lenz size, and the zoom, which is called the “Throw Ratio”. Here are some brands I really reccomend: InFocus, Optoma, and Espon. You can find them at any BestBuy, Circuit City, or just about ANYWHERE online.

Although Sports and gaming do look good on a standard def pj, you can get a true 720p now for around $800 if you shop around. As the poster stated above each pj has it’s on zoom and how far away you mount it from the wall (throw distance) will determine the size as well.
Go here to check out specs and there is also a calculator that shows how big the screen can be at each distance for each pj, if that makes sense.

As far as brands go here are a few that I have personally used and really liked. Especially the Epson’s as the bulbs are only about $150 – $200 which is relatively cheap. You should find any of these for $500 or so and don’t be scared off by refurbishes models either.
