I wonder whats wrong here, all is shown on the screen when the projector is turned on is small rectangular light with the word computer on it.
Does this mean I have to connect it to a computer instead of the laptop? Or are there certain types of laptop that does not work with certain types of projector?
Please someone explain and give me some insight!!!

you screwed it.
This is a problem numerous people have. More luck than anything. Try making the connections first before turning your computer on. Seems to work for most. Also just make sure you’re making the right connections.
I think pressing function+f4 is the usual trick to get your lap top to use the projector instead of your own screen. I can not remember but I think the function key is the bottom left one.
Oh and make sure it is plugged in correctly.
you have to use the function key so the laptops knows there is an outside source. mine is fn+f5. its going to be fn plus a f1-f-f12 key look for the phone that has a computer screen on it.
hi , i m a dell tech
what u said was right, that some of the laptops are not compatible to certain projectors, there may be the possibility that the laptop is latest and the projector is not or vise-versa,
if it shows text (computer) on ur screen means u r projector is not compatible to u laptop, to know detailed information about u r laptops compatibility, mail me on mayurzconnect@rediffmail. com, mention about ur laptop tag number and the model number. i would definetly help u further.
Thanks
