Ouch what a question the argument between LCD and Plasma still rumbles.
1st don’t touch projection you need black out like a cinema and they will not last as long without problems and maintenance.
Despite being a fan of LCD ( LED is back lit LCD ) at this size I would go Plasma for picture quality.
My preference would be Pioneer or Panasonic.
There is only one choice to make Pioneer Elite Pro-151fd 60″ Plasma and Match that with the Elite Blu-Ray Player BDP-05FD and get ready to see tv like you never have before.
My second choice for really bright rooms is Samsing UN55B8000 55′ Led Tv that is only 1. 2 In Thick.
Projectors are also great and the other responses are right need to create a dark room and be prepared to have a screen 150-200 in
If money truly is no object, this is the one you’ll want: http://www. pioneerelectronics. com/PUSA/Products/HomeEntertainment/PlasmaTVs+Monitors/EliteTVs/ci. PRO-151FD. Kuro
I’d suggest sticking with plasma for pure picture quality, and as far as brands for plasma go, Pioneer > Panasonic > LG > Samsung > Sanyo > all the rest. LED isn’t too bad in picture quality either, but it’s a fairly new technology and they’re still working out bugs in it.
If money is no object. . . then Panasonic’s V10 series is the #1 overall performing HDTV series in the world right now! See here: http://reviews. cnet. com/best-high-definition-tvs/?tag=leftColumnArea1. 0
LED LCD’s have similar contrast ratios as Plasma TV do. . . however, LED’s are still LCD TV’s and still have their limitations! Plasma TV’s have near instant response times of . 001ms and 600hz refresh rates. LED LCD’s have 2ms response times(2,000 times slower) and 240hz refresh rates(2. 5 times slower)! This makes Plasma TV’s better at fast motion sharpness AND smoothness, such as with sports, movies & gaming!
Here are my recommendations:

How about a 92″ diagonal image from an Infocus X10 1080i DLP projector from tigerdirect. com for around $1,200. Here’s a similar screen shot mage from its predecessor Infocus SP4805:

Pioneer Kuro or Panasonic Viera (both plasma’s). Projectors are great but not for a 60″. If you get a projector you’ll want an 8′ screen.
