Thanks for the video! I actually have been looking at these through “The Retrofit Source” for my ‘04 WRX. I have heard some debate on the clarity of the cutoff and how much light they throw, but going from Halogen to HID should be a huge step. Plus since I am all about doing it legally I wont be blinding people.
@HAMMERxHCA Not a problem! I’m glad that you are taking your lighting situation seriously. I think your idea of putting them in the bumper is a fantastic one, and I hope you decide to post up videos when you’re done! Feel free to post it as a video response if you want.
Cool. I did some more reading on them and found that they will do just fine. Since the truck is so tall, I am that real asshole blinding people and I hate to do that. So I’m putting them inbthe bumper and hopefully it will put the cutoff in a non-blinding spot. Anyways thanks for this vid and all the info you threw out there. Cheers!
@HAMMERxHCA many people use the morimotos as their main lights
So I got a question, I have an 88 Chevy truck with a long travel front end, and the truck sits higher up front. What I want to do is install some projector fog lights, but swap the cheap projectors for these morimoto’s. Would they be good enough to work as headlights? I want to rely on them for my headlights since they will be down lower on the bumper.
@WayfareFilms fix it
Hey i have bi-xenon projector and face problem as the HID gives little amount of light. .
what should i do?
How fast does the ballast warm up the bulbs to the white color?
The edge of the metal for the hi/low shutter is causing the light to separate into its individual colors, which the lens enhances this.
Can I wire up the solenoid to any 12 volt source or should I resist it down? Also I am running a h4 set up is there a special harness I have to buy or can I just splice some wires?
I’m now watching this at 1:30 – 1:35 a. m. in the morning. I can now go to sleep knowing a little bit better about lights. Thanks.
@mgs1983ai ohh alright then bro. thanks so much. that helped alot
@jaytabz Yeah, the cool thing about the 5th and 6th gen Accord is that your low beams stay on when the high beams are activated. Connect the solenoid to your factory high beam wiring and you have quad high beams (HID + halogen).
@mgs1983ai ohh alright thanks i have a 99 accord. but if i still want to use my highbeams and also use the high beams from the projector, can i just tap the solenoid wires to the high beams?
@jaytabz Nope it works off of a 12v power source, but the wiring is a little different between cars. For example, if your stock headlights have a separate high and low beam, you wire the solenoid directly to the factory high beam wiring.
It looks. . . really fuckin’ cool.
Awesome video and definitely NOT a waste of five minutes.
I’d much rather go through the effort (And/or cost) of a proper retrofit rather than be one of these retards that puts a Xenon bulb into a halogen housing.
Do you have to have a stock system set up to activate the solenoid or can that be done easily?
do u need a certain harness to control the reflector for the high beam and low beam?
coz im planning on buying some on theretrosource. COM
thank you!
I’m wondering why you don’t want to bother with the D2Ss as well.
I’m on rs25. com as well, I have a 95 with newer lights
I have speculation, I’m getting an HID kit for christmas, but I want to buy a retrofit set up from TRS and they have bi xenon kits. I’ve looked into FX-Rs but apparently they are too big and are not for the novice.
However, the Moris seem to be more easy to install, but I’ve noticed the cut off is not as sharp as the FX-Rs and seem to be more of a budge retrofit projector.
Sick video! very descriptive and answers most questions ppl will ask. Im about to buy a pair of Mori’s. Why do u say “Dont bother with the D2S version?” U can get really high quality bulbs in D2S.
. . . Would have been nice to see how you put them in the headlight.
Hey guys,
dash: Mini H1. Don’t bother with the D2S.
fabio: the battery is for a motorcycle and testing headlights. NOT for a car
menahunie007: not sure how hot they get, but they are cooler than stock halogen bulbs
nice video. I wish TRS could do something like this
Hey sweet video. Is this a mini H1, or mini D2s? I’m leaning towards the D2s.
